Perth Waterproofing and Silicone Solutions collaborated with JP Blue and Allduro to execute a waterproofing project for PACT Construction. This initiative involved the installation of a waterproofing system for a fourth-level swimming pool in upscale apartments located in Applecross.

The finished project was certified by Detec Australia where they carried out a full test of the waterproofing membrane and issued a report to the client.

The project in brief

We were tasked with waterproofing a swimming pool which was on the 4th level of an apartment block. Residential units are underneath the swimming pool so using the correct products to ensure that the waterproofing membrane wouldn’t fail and have longevity.

Sourcing the correct products for the job were critical as they would need to be compatible with the chemical nature of a chlorine pool. The products used would need to withstand the harsh nature of chlorine to make sure the membrane would hold and a warranty certificate could be issued.

We had to waterproof the entire pool before a skilled team tackled tiling the elevated sections. To reach these high points, scaffolding had to be erected over the freshly waterproofed areas, which required a careful re-waterproofing process once tiling was complete.

In projects like this, it’s common to waterproof the whole area initially, allowing the tiling team to work efficiently, and then address any areas affected by the scaffolding to ensure everything is up to standard.

Coordination was key, as we collaborated closely with the scaffolding team to schedule the construction and then meticulously planned for reworking the waterproofed sections, ensuring the integrity of the waterproofing membrane was thoroughly tested before finalizing the project.

We leveraged our industry expertise to select products capable of withstanding the harsh chlorine environment. Additionally, we meticulously reviewed the Technical Data Sheets for each product to ensure compliance with all necessary standards.

We efficiently allocated internal resources, making sure that the correct tasks for the upcoming week were scheduled and that the most qualified team members were on-site for specific job sections.

To enhance our planning confidence, we consulted Allduro for their expertise on the proposed products and additional recommendations, ensuring that a warranty could be confidently provided. We decided on using the WPA System for the main pool as it has a great track record and is fully Codemark Certified.

We also carefully coordinated our work with other teams operating in the same area, making sure we didn’t disrupt their tasks and vice versa. To safeguard our efforts, we cordoned off the work zones to prevent any interference with the waterproofing membrane already applied.

As part of our process, we issued customer certificates that included:

• An installation certificate from Perth Waterproofing & Silicone Solutions
• A product warranty confirming proper usage and installation of the products
• A waterproofing test certificate from a third party to verify the correct application of the membrane.
